This year we are holding out first short film competition on 25th February - The Tom Ainsworth Short Film Awards
These awards have been set up by the Society in memory of the late Tom Ainsworth, a member since 1939 and its first honorary President.
The intention is to encourage student filmmakers by awarding annual prizes in a competition. There will be two prizes: one for a film selected by a jury consisting of members of the committee and club members, and another selected by a vote of members attending on the night of the competition. The prize for each category is £100.
The films shortlisted from the entrants by the jury will be shown on the 25th February and members will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite film and the prizes will be presented on the night.
We hope you can come to this special event as there are sure to be some high quality short films in the competition.
As the season goes on we shall be adding new features including a MEMBERS’ CORNER exclusive to our members. So watch this space !
Meanwhile there are plenty of things happening during our 81st season.
John Grieve has DVDs of some of the films shown in the last season and some for the current season. Contact secretary@mandsfs.org.uk if you want to borrow one of them.
You’re probably aware that we work closely with the Club Theatre and you may be interested to see their programme for the new season here.

To be able to read the notes you’ll need to have a PDF reader installed on your PC. The most popular one is from Adobe and can be obtained from their site. There are many other PDF readers and you can search for them on the web and usually download them for free.
To see the film notes simply click on the
icon in the film entry box and the notes will be opened in your PDF viewer.
Also, if available you can see a trailer for the film by clicking on the
icon in the film entry box. This will take you to a site showing a short trailer for the film.
